Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Daily Quranic Wisdom (“the App”) handles information when you use the iOS application and the companion service at https://api.dailyquranicwisdom.cc.
1. Who we are
The App is developed and operated by Elian Satter. For privacy questions, contact elian.satterthwaite@icloud.com.
2. Information stored on your device
The App keeps the following on your device (local storage / Keychain):
- Journal note text, moods, and linked verse references
- Saved verses and theme assignments
- Reflection checkmarks and streak-related dates
- Remembrance counters and intentions
- Display name and reading preferences (text size, script visibility, reminders)
- An anonymous device identifier used to talk to the companion API
3. Information sent to our servers
When the App can reach the network, it may send the following to
api.dailyquranicwisdom.cc, keyed by your anonymous device id:
- Community participation: a date and verse key so community reflection counts and theme popularity can be aggregated. No journal text, display name, or free-form notes are included in these community endpoints.
- History sync: reflection dates and verse keys; saved verse keys and themes; note markers (date, mood, optional linked verse key); and practice totals (counter completions and intentions kept). Journal body text is not uploaded.
- Statistics: derived from your synced history (streaks, heat-map levels, theme counts, and practice totals).
We do not require an account, email address, or phone number to use the App. We do not sell personal information.
4. How we use information
- To show the Community Highlight and aggregate anonymous reflection counts
- To sync and restore your reflection history and statistics across sessions
- To operate, secure, and improve the companion API
5. Retention
Community aggregates and synced history are retained while needed to provide the service. You can erase local App data from Settings. Clearing the App or resetting the device removes the local anonymous device id; a new one may be created on next use.
6. Third parties
The companion API may be hosted by infrastructure providers that process request data solely to deliver the service. The App does not use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking.
7. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
